Quinta do Paço de Valverde
The project consists of adapting a 16th-century recreational farm into a hotel under the REVIVE programme.
Many architectural remains have been preserved including the hydraulic system, made up of tanks and an aqueduct; the Conventinho, a perfect example of Renaissance micro-architecture; as well as the labyrinth garden and the Garden of Jericho, where the Cardinals' Pond, begun in the second half of the 17th century and decorated around the statue of Moses, stands out.
This is a large-scale, multidisciplinary project. It was necessary to coordinate technical teams from architecture, landscape architecture, various engineering specialities and conservation and restoration - all to satisfy the premise of this major project: respect for heritage.
